Did the Alaska governor convince you of her VP credentials

More so than Obama has of Presidential credentials - now that's scary. She's not running for President . Where are all the people interviewing Biden to see if he's ready. Apparently the Dems didn't think so, because when he did run for President - he didn't get any votes. MSNBC and NBC are so left wing - how can we answer questions and pose opinions when the only people who read your blogs and watch your news are liberals-there is no fair and balanced journalism - shame on you!

If you don't like MSNBC, why are you on their web site?
Biden is not in question. Biden has done MANY interviews and has answered MANY questions IN HIS OWN WORDS and WITH HIS OWN THOUGHTS.
It is not impressive that the GOP has to tutor Palin for two weeks before she is ready to give one interview with one of the nicest guys in the news business.

You seriously want to compare Palin and Biden? I would love to have that debate. Herein lies the difference in the VP picks. Obama vetted and was very thorough in his decision for Vice President. McCain made a savvy political move to get someone in who could distract from the atrocities of the Republican failures, which McCain aligned to 90% of the time. On a purely Country First mantra, which person is qualifying his concern for this country and his responsibility to us? I don't even care anymore about change or reform themes, I care about my children, my neighbors and even you, a fellow American who would be governed by this person in the event that McCain is unable to serve us. No kidding John McCain is running, if that's your best answer then why even have a VP? What's is the purpose of a VP? To bring women into the voting process? To wake up evangelicals who have been in a coma during the campaign or to ensure that you select someone in your duty as President who can competently govern this country in the event you can't fulfill your duties.

I wish they had back to back interview with Biden and Palin!!!!
You are right, Biden did run for President and lost; where was Palin at that time? Don't forget it's easy to look tall if you are walking among midget.
One thing I do agree with you, there is less fair and balanced journalism when all the media was hanging on the lipstick comment instead of focusing on the real issue. I feel like watching E-news not politcal reporting.

I think we can put Sarah Palin's executive experience against Joe Biden's any day. She has experience, he has none. Biden has not really done much in his thirty years in the Senate either. Palin was involved in actual decisions every day, plus submitting legislation as a governor. Palin has much more experience than Obama at doing real work. An ivy league education does not mean you are more capable. What Palin has done overshadows both Obama and Biden.

Well it doesn't matter. It will be Obama in a landslide and after all the nonesense about Pig's lipstick and going to war with Russia are over, we can get down to the serious business of making sure everone has a job and can keep their house. I also predict that gas will return to about 2.50 a gallon. (I'm an economist and in spite of what McCain has said the fundamentals are NOT sound to maintain a growing economy until there is some equilibrium restored to the energy sector )
This time however all of us have to learn from this mess. I agree with T. Boone Pickens and wish others like him who have been blessed to enjoy billions of dollars they earned would give back in the way he is doing. We don't necessarily need to increase taxes on the rich, what we need is great ideas from people like T. Boone Pickens.
If I were Obama I would propose to give huge tax breaks to every wealthy business leader like Pickens, Bill Gates, Ross Perot, Warren Buffet and others like them that will come forward and help me put in place proposals that will create new jobs and new indstustries.
The problem with politicians is they focus too much on raising or lowering taxes. If they focused on creating high wage jobs ( like Clinton did ) then the taxes would take care of themselves.
Its simple. Create an environment that invests in education, healthcare, job training, and tax incentives for technological R&D. Then you turn out more engineers and scientists and doctors than lawyers. These peopple mak more money and as a result add tothe tax revenue of the government. Its child's play. The problem is we as American's are hypocrites. We worry more about lipstick and pigs than we do about character adn intelligence.
After this is all said and done, those of you who are outraged over pigs and lipstick, call your mortgage company and ask if they will accept that conversation for payment next month!!! After your house is foreclosed on and you move into your apartment and get your internet hook up again, write us and tell us how it went ok?

People beg , borrow (but hopefully not steal) to get into Ivy League scools for a reason: they offer good educations. Ther are plenty of other schools that do, as well, but unfortunately even they have become beyond the reach of far too many. Even a good church based school is off the radar. And what do so many have against education, anyway? We still have free will, no matter where we go to school, and the brains God gave us to make, hopefully, intelligent decisions, no matter what this or that professor said in class. You are always free to speak up, even if the prof doesn't like what you have to say, and it is up to us to do exactly that. It's one of our responsibilities as Americans, besides being an absolute right (except for the obvious yelling "Fire!" in a theater when there is none). It strikes me as a bit of reverse snobbism when people decry education, the Ivy Leagues, etc. I went to a state school though I was offered scholarships at both Ivy League schools and other highly prestigious schools plus several religiously based school (like Pepperdine). I liked the curriculum among other things at the state school and had some really loud "discussions" with a few of my profs. By the way, I also had work-study jobs and loans to fill in what the scolarships did not pay for. The best education I had, though, came from my parents encouragement of my curiosity (as in letting me buy books by the ton) and taking us kids traveling every year and every wher we could get to on a wing and a prayer, sometimes. Also they talked with us and did not shy away from the most obnoxious questions, as when I walked home from school one day as agrade schooler and had seen some four letter worders I did not know on the sidewalk. They explained what the words meant and that they were not good words to use, and it stuck.
Kat.. You said of Biden: "he did run for President - he didn't get any votes."
Joe Biden for President DID get votes. Almost 80,000 to be closer than your statement. Oh, and that wasn't even the whole voting public! He withdrew long before the convention in Denver.
The 'Truth-o-meter' gives you a "Pants on fire" for that one.
As for those who read the blogs and listen to the news... It's not restricted to only liberals... Anyone can tune in. Just because others can be SO far to the right that they WON'T tune in.. is not the fault of the news OR the good ppl who read/post to those sites. The 'Truth-o-meter' gives you a "barely true" only because far right doesn't take advantage of the opportunity to listen/read/post to liberal sites. Just as I'm sure far left doesn't do the same for the far right views/sites.
Lipstick... I agree that the media should leave it alone, however, McCain himself used that VERY SAME term (lipstick on a pig) several times himself, yet he blasts Obama for the same thing? McCain didn't even bother to say that Obama called her a pig.. because he DIDN'T. Basically, Obama was saying a rose by any other name... It's still a rose.
Sarah Palin is so far to the right (extreme I might say) that she scares me! I am a Christian, yet her strict values are a choice of her own NOT to be forced upon the rest of the country by any leader. I believe this country was founded on certain freedoms.. like religious views NOT being forced upon us. I may be mistaken in that belief however... NOT! I simply cannot understand that she ONLY supports teaching NO sex as birth control. It doesn't work! Proof is in the pudding, so to speak. She taught her own children this, it didn't work! To outlaw abortion will have back street abortions BACK in play. It was the Catholic leaders who instigated legalizing abortion in order to curb the loss of teenage girls lives from the illegal 'coat hanger' abortions that were so prevalent back in the day before Roe v Wade. To go extreme is NOT the answer to the numbers of abortions that are 'elective'.
Palin's 'reforms' are laughable. Go to snopes and search her name. There is a letter from an Alaska woman who has 'nothing to loose' by saying what she feels like many other Alaskans do. So she sent out an email. Snopes checked with her to see if she did indeed write the email and she did. It's amazing the things that are NOT put into the public view. Like she didn't tell her children or parents that she was pregnant with the last child until she was 7 months along. Now that is HONEST! 22 Million in debt for Wasilla when there was NO debt to speak of when she took office. For what? A PARK.. . when the city needed sewage! The schools needed assistance. The 'rebates' to the people? Many believe it should have paid for other things that state needed. These are an Alaskan's words paraphrased.. not mine.
Open your minds up to both sides of the story before you start stating that things are 'gospel' or truth.

For anyone to try to compare Palin's experience next to Biden shows either a total ignorance of politics or a desperation to try to cover up just how horrible of a pick McCain made for his VP slot.
And please stop with the stupidity of saying "Well she has more executive experience" like that's some sort of magic wand to explain away her in-experience. By that measure the average PTA president has more experience then anyone in the race, but I sure wouldn't trust any of them with the nuclear trigger. Besides if that's how we're supposed to measure the qualification for the job then she has more "executive experience" then John McCain so the GOP should have her on top of the ticket since by their own measure Johnny's not as qualified to be president as she is.

If Sarah Palin is lacking, it is HER OWN fault, not the reporters. It's called a FREE press! Or is it only free when it sticks to your talking points?! If you have ever seen a BBC reporter interview a politician, they are relentlessly grilled by the reporter. That is what we need!
Now we see why Sarah Palin was being SHIELDED from the media since the convention. She can't stand up to scrutiny.
The free press is an essential check against the power of the government. A free press is VITAL to a democarcy. It is the job of the free press to expose the flaws and imperfections of politicians, as well as thier ablities!

Tell me who gets tutored to be VP? It's a joke. You either have the experience to articulate your positions or you don't. If you don't know you're sh-t cold, without cramming, you're just not ready and Palin amply displayed she's not ready. She evaded answering questions, stammered through most others and just went back to prepared answers whenever she could. Even if they didn't answer the question. She was clearly ill at ease and couldn't even put together grammatically correct sentences. She sounded life a foreigner with English as her second language. And her answer that being able to see Russia from Alaska gives her foreign policy credentials, is just about the most embarrassingly asinine thing I've ever heard. I can't believe the Press is giving her a pass. What's going here? If Biden or Obama ever said anything like that it would be on every news channel 24/7.

"Where are all the people interviewing Biden to see if he's ready"
Um, Kat, there's this show called Meet The Press. Rush doesn't talk about it much but it's the place where candidates traditionally go for an in-depth interviews about policy. Joe Biden was on just this past week and got a good questioning. On the same day, Barack Obama was one on one with George Stephanopolous and John McCain was on Face the Nation. Where was Sarah Palin? Nowhere. THAT is why we're asking. Despite what Hannity tells you, it's not about bias. We want to see what she has to say. Last night, the American people finally heard, and were not impressed.

Some of you folks are so stupid - anyone you don't agree with you label them liberals. Rational people are too complicated to be liberal or conservative. I'm liberal on some issues and conservative on others.
I like McCain and voted for him eight years ago, but I don't like his Iraq War position nor his health care plan to eliminate employer health care benefits (hits my pocket book).
I like Obama and his wisdom to be against the Iraq War from the start. He appears to be a good and honest man, and loves his wife and family.
No one is going to reform Washington. It is what the American people want and vote for every two years. Large voting blocks swing elections, and thus we have Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Defense funding, and HHS. Excluding interest on the National Debt, not much is left in Federal Spending. There is a simple reason No Child Left Behind was not funded - no money and no large voting block to support it.
Why all the piss and venom from both sides? Lacking a higher purpose in life.
Unfortunately the office of President has too much Wars powers. I'm sure you now know I'm voting for Obama, but I'm not a liberal.
- 7 votes
Kat, you're absolutely correct...All these responses have no depth... It was Biden that said that Obama had no experience, that this is not "on the job training" for Obama. Hillary said that "who do you want to answer the phone at 3 a.m." These liberals are in denial.... Hell, as an ex-CFO retired and handle millions of dollars, so I'm qualified more than Obama and Biden who never even owned a grocery store.
In addition, all of these liberals that are responding are probably the same as O... Never held a responsible job! Also, O is the least qualified in history!!! Take this and eat it!
Go for it Kat.... Your eyes are open, these liberals someday will open their eyes and see the truth!

Palin is a joke, her policy are not McCain's I was unimpressed with her answers. It seemed scripted and not true and the way she said did not blink when asked was asked
by McCain to be his running mate. That is a little unsettling for me. She has a family and a new baby and she did not think about what she would do with the children while she is in Washington cause her husband would not be the one to watch him, I saw him in the convention hand the baby to the little girl, you know the one who was licking her hand to brush down the baby's hair down. She did not think of asking her family about what they though about her running in this campaign and the hardship that it would have on her daughter who is probably having a lot of concerns of her own.
It is just a question that woman get asked because they are the ones who usually who are usually provide for the children, Now maybe that is not the role she has selected for her self and maybe is but with child that has special needs that should be the most important thing on her mind right now. That is my opion and I am sure other will differ with me, but that little guys need mom all the time.

You better get head out of your A-- Palin hasn't a clue on foreign policy. She wants to get us in a war with Russia?? NOT A CLUE there are far to many more things to mention here, other than she is real scary to even think about her as a VP or worse yet the president!!!

Turned out just about like I thought. Actually not to many difficult questions, and fumbled on the ones that were asked. I believe if it were any of the others up there, he would have been tougher on them, but it appears Gibson didn't want to be seen as attacking.
I actually have a bit of a problem with that. This is an interview for a very tough job. The purpose is not to make her look good or bad, but to test the metal of whether this person can do the job. In the end, some of the answer came back. If this was a person that I was asked to interview for possible hiring, knowing the job I was hiring her for, my notes would be this.
Summary?: Confident person. Smart person. Little experience. Not ready.
It's pretty obvious that allot of people relate to Ms. Palin. She is popular with the GOP base, and especially popular with white women. I hope in the end that women (and everyone) step back and remember what the context of the election is and look beyond gender and kinship to the actual job in front of us and the skills and credentials needed to execute that job.
The last few elections were apparently decided on the criteria of "who would you like to have a beer with". While having someone in the white house that we can closely relate to may make us feel better, it has little to do with running the country. I personally want a person that can do the job best, just as I do for the people I hire for my business or get services from such as Doctor. Lawyer, CPA, etc. Their expertise and capability in their chosen field far out-ways their "like-ability" for me. I'll keep that criteria for my close friends.
I am sure Ms. Palin will study between now and the VP debate. But all the hubub about her need to catch up is the actual missing story. I really am not comfortable having someone in a critical position "cram" for the job, or receive OJT for a significant time, when we have significant problems to solve right now. While it is very clear that Ms. Palin is energetic and confident, bravado without reasoned experience can be a very dangerous thing, as wars are often started by misunderstandings and jumping the gun by one of the parties in a conflict.
My personal opinion is that Mr. McCain decided to run a magic show. It was clear to the campaign machine that the public is extremely unhappy with the current direction, and that direction was clearly connected to the current administration as well as the policies already put forth by Mr. McCain. In order to win the election then, he needed to make the GOP record, as well as his published Policies disappear in front of our eyes. Like any good magician, this requires not only "slight of hand" but also a significant diversion. The various untruths and attacks are part of that distraction, as is Ms. Palin
This tactic has worked many times in the past, as voters typically have a very short memory and even shorter attention span. They are simply to busy with their day to day lives to fully digest all the issues and ramifications of voting for one person or the other. Ironically, this leads to many voters actually voting against their own self interests. As the overwhelming majority of voters are "middle class" and are busier than ever struggling with a slow economy and a slew of pocketbook problems, and the current problems clearly caused by the administration of the last 8 years. One would think that they would vote for a different set of policies that would benefit them.
Given that McCain is ahead in the polls, this election cycle appears to be no different than in recent past, with no clear connection between self interest and voting patterns and instead a tighter correlation of voters "comfort level" with individual personalities. In the process, the public simply falls for the same old magic tricks, and are left wondering what went wrong and where their livelihoods "disappeared" to.
My 2 Cents

Thanks Kat, You're right on. MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN they are all a bunch of junk. If we didn't have them around we might win a war. Their all communist so far as I'm concerned. And why are they comparing Palin with Obama to start with. The VP is there to support the President just like my Assistant is there to support me, And I'm sure she will get trained how to answer the phone at 3am, or ready in a heartbeat. What makes anyone think that McCAin is going to die if he gets elected. Go Sarah.
"What makes anyone think that McCAin is going to die if he gets elected"
Uhhh... He is 72, and would be the oldest 1st term president ever, and has had melanoma (cancer) 5 times.
Approximately 20% of all presidents (all younger) have not made it through their term.
All in all, not good odds...

I object to your use of the plurality "credentials"...John McCain made quite clear the credential that he wanted in a running mate.
He wanted a circus and he got one.

MSNBC is so far left with the headlines they post as news. They all present a negative for republican candidates. If you look at their headlines you would be swayed to believe Republicans bad, Democrats good. Thank heavens I am not a moron and believe 1 sided slander as news. The left wing media (news) outlets and blogs think you need to vote for what they want and do not feel that showing you the truth on both sides will get that to happen. They choose to show 1 side and all negative for the other. they have been doing this for over 6 years now to try and make sure a democrat is voted in. It makes me feel that they think we are morons, unable to think for ourselves. Not many news outlets show you both sides, good and bad. They have made me want to vote Republican all the way now, with all the democratic anti-american negativity for over 6 years. I love our Country (even if a democrat is president), but I want to keep it free and with less government involvement in our lives and less taxes. Obama and the Democrats stand for more taxes for government freebies, which will automatically mean more government control in our lives. The Democrats also seem to present a socialist agenda, and I love Capitalism and the freedom to work when and where I want and how i want with no controls. I will vote McCain / Palin '08 for sure.

Didn't somebody say something about "opening ones mouth, and removing all doubt"
Kat----you don't make any sense. Skip around and pretend, I can tell you are a Palin supporter.
Kat, my two cents in support of your voice. This lady, Sarah Palin, on my outsider's opinion (I am Ukrainian) who runs the state with multimillion budget and has the courage to stand against not only corrupted big boys of that area quite, but agaimst most unfavorable left media opinions, who sacrifused her own son for the cause of this country, etc, etc - she, I confess has won my heart instantly.
Unlike the most famous "community organizer" in the world she has not just nice look of an empty selebrity, but a substance and determination to do the job.
She runs the state, whose neighbore, Russia, is becoming the major factor of real danger to the very country we care about most of all - so, she understands challanges of modern world much better, than Washington insiders, like Mr. Biden and certainly better, than all the community organizers put togather.
P.S. Please, forgive my Ukrainian English, folks.
No, but dead man walking is. she is the back up, isn't she? i could have done better on the questions about israel and georgia. her answers were appalling.
It is soo unfortunately clear. MSNBC has a total left wing slant from 95% of their programming. They do not even attempt at making anything impartial or balanced, just look at their new addition. It actually tends to cause me to incur a slight uncontrollable internal vomit at her sight and points. If I wanted to hear the thoughts of the left wing, I would tune into air America. Shame on you MSNBC!

If you don't like MSNBC, why are you on their web site?
To Get Smarter ;)
Remember there were a lot of us on this site before it was bought out by MSNBC.
As an independent, I looked at this interview with an open mind to really see if she had the "right stuff" as they say to represent me as the Vice President of my country. After it was all said and done, I felt ashamed, I am living and working in Spain and a lifelong independent, and the imprison that I got , and many of my friends also felt, is that she was out of her depth. She seemed to have been prepared, but did not know enough about that subject matter to correlate the information she was given to the questions posed. Is this really the best woman that the GOP has to represent our Country? I honestly do not believe that no one really has the experience for the top jobs of our nation, unless you have done the job before, but I do believe that a minimum amount of education and life experience is necessary to better prepare you for this learning curve. What I saw was a person trying to get through the interview on just grit and determination; I have to give her that, but just the same I feel that she would not qualify to do the job on day one, as they claim. Sorry but I could not, in my right mind, indorse this candidate today.
Palin's not even ready to be interviewed in the national media, much less to be VP, even less to be President. She is hiding out from actual interaction with people with actual questions. She speaks only from her script, lies about so much (so I guess she's in the right party -- Bush, Cheney, Scooter, Jesse Helms, Doug Fieth, James Dobson, and so many more): Troopergate, the Bridge to Nowhere, her teleprompter, tax cuts, cuts in the size of government, support to special needs kids - give her the microphone and start counting the new lies. She is Nobody from Nowhere: her resume is pathetic -- she is unqualified to be governor, but that is Alaska's problem, or maybe she is Alaska's Jesse Ventura (another maverick good for entertainment value). In her wildest dreams, her political career would have otherwise included two terms as governor, then a run for the Senate, at which point some 10 years from now she could be considered a peer of Senator Obama's (despite needing only about 200,000 votes to become that Senator, versus Obama's total of 3.6 million votes in 2004 -- oh yeah, that was when Sarah was mayor of that town of 6000 souls, elected with 613 votes). She is undereducated, inadequately curious, underqualified and under scrutiny. She is an atrocious choice and speaks worlds about McCain's lie of a slogan: "Country First"? She is about politics only, because there is no way on earth that she's good for America. What a travesty.
Palin has no qualifacations to fill the position of VP nor President of this nation. You can see Russia from an Island in Alaska? My favorite qoute was she doubted that many VP candidates ever met with a head of state. Whoops, the last 30 have.
Wait until a debate when she will not have her index card answers. In a non-hostle interview that was f staged for her to succeed Palin could not answer the questions without sounding like she read them of of a box of Cheerios.

I can't believe that the GOP are still using the "Alaska is close to Russia" statement. I'm sure that it was Jon Stewart on the Daily Show that first said that as a joke.
I used to live a couple of miles from the Mexican Border. Does that make me qualified to be President?
- 17 votes
Yeah, and I have traveled all over the U.S. a lot and most of Western Europe plus Mexico and Canada numerous times. I was in Yugoslavia the week that Tito was dying (it was scary). Does McCain know that Yugoslavia has broken up yet? My parents traveled to Slovakia AND the Czech Republic in search of my father's father's family and you definetly had to go to two countries. Alaska is one of the few states I've missed, but maybe I should go just to get a glimpse across the water of Russia. I saw Albania once across the water from a Greek ferry traveling between islands. Does that count? Guess I could be Secretary of State or at least an ambassador.

Let's look at the educational background of the candidates and see what they bring to the job:
Obama:
Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. political science with a specialization in international relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude
Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in political science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)
vs.
McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 out of 899 (meaning that, like George Bush, McCain was at the bottom of his class)
Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism
Now, which team are you going to hire to lead the most influential nation in the world?

sorry Alfie, you don't have a POW story to tell....... no voilins to play for you. McCain has told this story so much, I feel I'm part of the story? Who has McCain ever command? He did not command anyone while in the military. Oooooooops, I forgot, don't touch McCain's military record, he's our hero. Alfie,
You're more qualified than Palin. Sounds like your ready to be VP! All you have to do now is get McCain to nominate you. When you get elected you will just have to find a good tutor to learn everything else. For a smart guy like you it should only take a couple of years.
Anyway, that seems to be McCains standard for VP candidates. (Low)

Hey Fred...You've got to be kidding guy... You seem ignorant of the facts...
You're watching MSNB and CNN to often...Maybe if you read the facts you'll open your eyes...You want to campare some one like O who worked 143 days in the Senate/a community organizer with a Mayor and a Governor... You really need to be educated!
Obama's opinion of Governor Palin's experience:
"— the mayors have some of the toughest jobs in the country, because that's where the rubber hits the road. We yak in the Senate...
Isn't he actually admitting that Governor's have to get the job done while senators can just talk about it. His words out of his mouth. Spin that!
Kat, some character below by the name of Gingersnaps listed Obama and Biden education vs. McCain and Biden eho never even ran a grocery store!
As an ex-CFO I hired and fired many people, and about 90% of them were people that were super highly educted. Why do you ask, simple, they thought they knew everything, lazy workers, and took off allot on sick leave. These two characters, Obama and Biden remind me the license plate I saw back in the 80's which stated "Hire a teen ager while they know everything"!
Biden has never done anything in the Senate, and O has worked there 143 days!! And they're going to run a country... Plus, they're both so ugly!
WAIT! Obama meant the 50 geographical STATES and then 7 states of mind, like Happy and Grumpy.
50 Plus 7 = 57.
What's the issue folks?
You know, some people may not have seen what you have. You don't need to get snippy, just provide a link.
At any rate, he just misspoke. You never misspoke in your life? I mean, the more you speak (and Obama does a lot), the more likely you are to misspeak. He said he had one more to go and he wasn't allowed to go Alaska and Hawaii. Clearly, he meant to say 47 and misspoke.
Francis..seems like you asked the wrong questions during the interview or didn't check up on their references. Sounds familiar?
I hate to tell you, but Palin is more qualified to be Vice President than Osama Obama is to be President. You has made many more big decisions and many more right decisions than Obama ever has with many more accomplishments. Also, Obama just learned how to wipe himself, how could anyone possibly vote for him to be president ? I definitely have to vote for real experience, not what a slick speaker (Obama) says he will do. You need to vote for someone who has actually done something for this Country, not just for himself. They are so worried about Palin ( a Vice Presidential Candidate) they are beside themselves. When has a Vice Presidential Candidate recieved this much attention ? I say they are worried because she is all that she seems and will blow Biden away in the debate with him. Also, two more weeks of Palin bashing and Obama will be down to 30% in the polls.

With the continual horrible economy, the current hurricanes, oil prices, pitiful education, and the thought of Russia trolling along our waters it's sad to to see how low our requirements are for pres and vp in the rep party. We don't aspire to be great anymore...just average and mediocre.
Support for the rep party reminds me of an abused wife that continues to go back to her abusive husband.
Why can't America be the the nation were everyone has a top notch education, a strong industrial work base, leaders in technology as well as stable moral families? Throw my hat in the ring as well. I've traveled abroad had three kids, have my own business...... Oh and I've met the daughter of a head of state.
dj -- you hit it on the head. Like an abused wife continuing to go back to her husband. Great Metaphor. Keep up the good work. Glad to see a few of us have some common sense on this blog rather than try to call Obama OSAMA-- how rude and cruel. For you idiots that think you like how things have gone for 8 years, more power to you, you can't love your country nor your neighbor. Most of all, you can't love your children.
Neither does McCain
Click on his speech and see he stole most of it from Bush There is no difference
Biden's rank in his class was very low - I think 500's out of 600's. Why didn't you include that?
Why doesn't Gibson ask the same question to Obama? How qualified is Obama to be the President?
Palin ran a state. What did Obama run?
More examples of left wing bias by the media.
Are we still seriously considering her as a VP? If you Republicans love her sooo much let her be your mascot and pick Romney or Rice as your VP choice. The interview yesterday evening was a sad sad spectacle, she sounds like a radical, spoiled, child. I know the rest of the world leaders are laughing thier heads off this morning.

I'm guessing that the rest of the world leaders are not laughing. They are looking at the U.S. like we are a bunch of nuts with nuks.

As much as I hate, loathe, and detest Condi, I have to admit that she'd be a better VP pick than Palin. I'm pretty sure she can at least do an interview without pat and rehearsed answers that never really answer the question. But then, McCain did the same thing in an interview I saw yesterday. I think it's Rove's strategy to make the candidates fear real answers and to avoid them at all costs. "Stick to the script, or I'll hit you with my ruler!"
- 4 votes
I have nothing to back this up, but what was said by pundits on TV, but they repeated that Condi was asked, and said quitely said NO.
She is smarter than I thought....
I wouldn't have felt so bad if Condi was running with him. And not because she is Black or a Woman.
McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 out of 899 (meaning that, like George Bush, McCain was at the bottom of his class)"
That says it all in a nutshell...SLACKERS...
Well put ladyleader. She insulted womens intelligence and stance. Not to sound like Letterman but she reminded me of someone trying to get through an interview with a temp agency trying to explain how many 'letters' she can type per minute. ha ha. I agree, the world leaders are laughing and Obama's rating worldwide probably went up to 100 percent instead of the 80 he had. US needs to follow suit and get gimpy and whimpy off the stage. Sick to even look at by anyones' imagination with McCain continually twirling his wedding band and whimpy trying to fake her way through knowledge. What a side show. He got really scared when Whoopi Goldberg on the view asked him if she should be scared, re-enacting slavery. And his wife, get off the putter colored cloths. I felt like I should tee off any minute.
I do not think he had a choice. So who are we really voting for, for president?
The dims are in complete melt down. They have decreed that Palin is not worthy and most every other American is sending her numbers through the roof!
Yet again, the dims have proved that if you are liberal enough to get through their primary, then you are too liberal for America.
Twenty point swings from Obama in swing states and with key groups is hardly proof that Palin is the inept ogor that are telling us that she is.
I think she is a refreshing new leader for our Country. Honesty, candor, competence and all in an energetic new attitude. WHAT A PICK!

Palin continues to prove that she is totally unqualified to be vp of our
country.
Her replies were so scripted and she evidently was warned to not
stray what she was advised to say.
This hocky mom has done nothing but attack honorable, caring
people who REALLY want change for our country.
Anyone who supports her does not care about the
survival, welfare of our country.
- 12 votes
The hockey mom has generated a lot of excitement, let's face it. She is true to her convictions. Of that I am sure, and for that I give her the same respect I would give anyone with genuine convictions that she lives by and do not impinge on those of others. But VP? It was a cynical choice, and a poorly thought out one for someone running for President at the age of 72 with a history of the deadliest form of skin cancer (my Mom died of melanoma. It showed up where no dermatologist would find it: inside her abdomen). That does not give me a sense of John McCain as a truly responsible person who claims to put country first.
- 7 votes
I thought the definition of a Hockey mom was being with your children taking them and the neighbor kids to games. I would be curious to know how many of her childrens games she has attended this season and if she was there to see her children off their first day at school. Oh I forgot, she can do it all. I felt really bad when I tried to jugle as many of us mothers have, college, work, no husband.(he t like McCain did, me with 3 children to raise on my own because of another woman) I didn't have perdiem money to spend the night at home with my kids. I can go on and on so don't throw this up in all womens faces as noble when you have a silver van driven by a chauffer lady Palin!!!
"Palin continues to prove that she is totally unqualified to be vp of our
country."
You have got to love these Left Wing echo chambers. If one third of what these posters are saying about Palin was true, there would be no way that McCain/Palin would be even close. And, then you go to the polls and McCain/Palin are winning!
What's up with that? Surely ordinary Americans (like Palin) do not think that they can hold an intellectual candle to a lib?
And, if given the chance, I bet she kicks his arse in Bball, too.
- 1 vote
Absolutely not. Infinite shame on John McCain for putting pure political theatrics over the welfare of the United States.
What do you expect with Joe Lieberman on his side--this has nothing to do with the security or welfare of the people of the United States--this is about the security of ISRAEL.
That is why the Israeli lobby is pushing for pre emptive strikes. People like Joe Lieberman, Michael Chertoff, Alan Greenspan--who laid this financial disaster--are citizens of Israel and the USA. It is high time that we have laws that prohibit individuals who hold citizenship in other countries to be barred from political, intelligence, or high financial office in this country.
Remember when Gore ran with Lieberman, well let's say they won and Gore died, then Lieberman, a CITIZEN of ISRAEL would be President of the United States. Is not something gravely wrong with this picture.
End the alliance with Israel, send the Israel lobby packing and get our nose out of the Middle East and begin to take care of ourselves.

Seriously, I heard this garbage on Morning Joe about how many of the moderators didn't know the Bush Doctrine either. Well, they are not running for the second highest position in the world. The bottom line is, they could tout her as a reformer and proudly declare she doesn't know a thing about the rest of the world and even claim that's why they picked her, but to actually have her sit there and pretend to have a clue was a really stupid move. I also heard Joe talk about Obama's ad as appealing to his "Harvard" crowd. What on earth is wrong with have an intelligent President? Do we want another moron in office? I want to ask Joe, and even Karl Rove himself, if John McCain for any reason stepped down today or was out of the running, would you seriously want this woman as Commander and Chief of this country? Seriously, no doubt a savvy political move. Would you feel like your children, your lives, this country would be safe and well governed by Sarah Palin? That is a fair question that has nothing to do with her gender. If I were Charlie Gibson I would have a tough time being respectful to someone who is sitting there who is so obviously feigning any understanding at all. The bar is so low for her, how incredibly sad that we wouldn't demand more after the last 8 years.
Last note, I want my identity back. I am a working mom, in my early 40's, brunette (who often wears it up)with glasses. I have to dye my hair blond, get lasik and go on welfare (the only way I could otherwise care for my kids than working). I think she gives intelligent, competent, working mom's a bad name.

I wasn't familiar with the term Bush Doctrine before the interview, so it was an opportunity for me to learn a few things. Now I know that Palin has no problem running at the mouth despite not knowing what she's talking about. I suppose it would have been too much to ask for her to have said, "What do you mean by 'Bush Doctrine', Char-leeeee?"
- 4 votes
I too had not clue what "Bush Doctrine" meant until this interview. That being said.... I DON'T THINK I'M QUALIFIED TO POTENTIALLY BE THE PRESIDENT therefore, I don't NEED to know. Yes, she does... if she thinks she can be VP, then with the 30% chance that McCain will not live thru his tenure as President (should the country be insane enough to elect him) she WOULD be president! The fact that many think that, since most of us did not know what "BD" meant three days ago, SHE didn't need to know is ludicrous! Running in her position, she should have known. As should McCain, Obama and Biden.

BrandiM, I agree. When did it become a bad thing for our presidential candidates to be highly intelligent and well-educated? I want the smartest person possible in office. It doesn't mean they can't relate to the people of our country. It means they are better equipped to do the right thing by them.
Morning Joe definately needs to get another job, maybe on FOX network with Oreilly, they are twins aren't they??. I won't even watch him any more. I have my coffe with you guys reading the real news of the election, the truth of the people who really matter in the US, which is us. United States abbreviated is US, you and me. Morning Joe and Pat Buchanan have Red Blinders on and utter only Red things which essentually is lying to the American people . Just dont watch them any more. I have a better day when I don't. I like Keith and Rachel however. Chris ok sometimes and I think he is coming around to some sense but easily swayed by Joe. Joe needs to GO for US.
"BrandiM, I agree. When did it become a bad thing for our presidential candidates to be highly intelligent and well-educated? I want the smartest person possible in office."
If so, then why would you support the affirmative action candidate for president? He got into Harvard on his color not his grades or LSAT. Why else do think he will not release either?
Maybe you mean "I want the person that got into the most elite school (like Bush maybe) in office."That's right, he is an affirmative action lawyer, in more ways than one.

The Bush Doctrine has different aspects, so it was not wrong of her to ask Charlie to clarify. But Gibson only presented one view of the "doctrine" in an attempt to make her look unknowledgeable. However, her first answer still gave the central point of Bush's "doctrines" regarding terrorism.
I am reading this article and not believing what I just read as I watched the interview and it was a very positive interview and she was very forthright in her answers. I did not see where she had sidestepped anything, so not sure you were watching the same interview.

All she did was repeat the talking points that she was given. We need leaders that can think for themselves. Palin was obviously just repeating what she was told to say....and it took her two weeks to memorize the lines.

Well, your blog name says it all. The unfortunate fear-mongering tactic of people like you is that you clearly misunderstand that this is a global economy, global threats include terrorism here and abroad that impact us.
John McCain keeps claiming that he wants victory in Iraq. Hmmm lets' see we want "victory" in Iraq over an unwarranted war where the call to attack Iraq was falsely about Osama Bin Laden who at last check is STILL not in Iraq and STILL out there free. So how on God's green earth will there EVER be a victory in Iraq when Osama did not get the memo that he is supposed to get to Iraq so we can capture him there and claim "victory". How do you claim victory over a failed foreign policy decision? The best bet now is to claim credit for getting Sadam out of power and let the Iraq's take over their government. (okay that's oversimplified but you don't seem to be the brightest bulb on the tree).
And by the way the failed decision to go to Iraq, which still has not produced Osama Bin Laden is costing us nearly 350 million dollars a day. Its an exceptional decision all the way around. What victory, hopefully we can stay there another 50 or a 100 years and we will all be living on golf courses in tents trying to grow our own food and bike it to work every day if there are any jobs left.

the Dems are jealous and scared because Palin gave solid answers immediately, without the "uhhhh's" or long pauses like their idol Obama. And this MSN vote which is completely biased, only feeds the Dems.
"Did Sarah Palin sufficiently defend her ability to be commander in chief during her interview with Charlie Gibson?"
Why does Palin need to "defend" her ability to be CIC? She can "state" her abilities, but why "defend" like she's under attack? (And when will Obama ever be challenged in this way?)
Should Sarah Palin have known what Charlie Gibson meant by the "Bush Doctrine?"
No, Palin doesn't need to know what Gibson "meant" because there are various aspects of the Bush doctrine, & he as an interviewer was NOT CLEAR in his question. He himself was not well-versed enough on this topic & thus gave a nebulous question. Then he initially refused to clarify himself so that she could answer his question. However, had this been an interview to a Democrat, they would've been told beforehand exactly what Gibson meant by asking them that.
Charles Gibson was one of the last anchors I still held respect for, until last night. No one has asked Barack Obama the questions asked of Sarah Palin. Where's his foreign policy credentials? He's a "make Love not war" proponent and will only weaken our national security. The majority of all our Presidents are past governors. How many of them come into office with foreign policy experience? None! As for that matter, neither do any of the Senators or Congressmen. This interview is another sad example of how far our so called "neutral" news anchors are letting their personal opinions influence journalism.
It's a sad time and looks only to get worse. I expected better of Gibson. Why does Sarah Palin have to defend her Christian beliefs in a country based on our befief in God? When he chose to take out of context one sentence in a speech asking for prayer for our soldiers and our country, it's an example of how far our country is off the mark from our "founding fathers" attitudes. They're not just "rolling" in their graves, they're spinning! I'm tuning out NBC, ABC, and CBS and going strictly FOX news from now on.
- 1 vote
The agreed to do an interview with Gibson because he is the most easy-going Journalist in the industry. Yes, Gibson did look annoyed at Palin. I'm guessing that he was not impressed with someone parroting statements back to his every question.
I went on the ABC website right after the interview was aired. The blogs were filled with "Gibson was mean to the girl". The reality is that the rest of the world is not going to "play nice because she's a girl".
This election has set female politicians back 50 years. I'm a female and I am disgusted that the "it's sexist" card is thrown at every turn.
You are correct in you statement that the founding fathers are rolling in their grave. It must sicken them to think that the Presidency of this country has been turned into a side show.
- 6 votes
Gibson was annoyed because he fed Palin softball questions and she forgot the script.
I kept waiting for her to look off to her right and ask, "Line?" (Actors and directors reading this know what I'm talking about.)
Maybe Gibson should have taken a hardline approach to the interview, like Harry Smith this morning refusing to allow Rudy Guiliani to repeat misstatements about Senator Obama.
For that, Harry Smith gets the gold star.
- 6 votes
For the same reason Barack was ridiculed when he said that deciding when life begins is above his pay grade - he was sloppy in his speech, but in context explained that he couldn't begin to presume that, as it is in God's knowledge and not his, even if his faith beliefs convinced him personally, he would not impose his religious views on the majority of voters. Neither would Joe Biden. Wind-up girl was explaining her views in context also. What is good for the gander is good for the silly goose.

sounds like youself and Palin together have maybe a room temp I.Q.

I'm also glad to know that in the last 6 months, humans actually started to have an effect on climate change....
Linda, if you have children, start loving them now because to stand for someone that cares less where this country has headed and will head does not give a hoot about anything but themselves and their own person gain. You are the minority in this one dear.
My two biggest observations were:
1. When asked about her foreign policy experience she made the same statement that McCain made during his interview in Maine the day before. The two statements were almost word for word. How can these two people think that they can run the country when all they can do is recite the talking points that they are given??
2. That she did not even hesitate when asked to be VP. How can a married woman with five kids not give her family any consideration?
- 7 votes
I agree. Giving an answer to be VP of the United States does take some "blinking" or consideration. Not only the sheer responsibility of the job, but what about consulting with your spouse or family. If she can make decisions such as this that would have a huge impact on her and her family without a second thought, then I really wouldn't want her to be VP of the US. I guess "Country First" really means just that to her.
- 7 votes
Good point, it shows that she is willing to run head first into something without considering the situation.
- 4 votes
Very sexist comment, just because she has children it does no mean she can not do the job. The presence of a uterus or having children does not steal your brain. Once again the liberal group is showing their true colors. Take exception to her knowledge or capacity, leave the motherhood and other sexist considerations out. And by the way I seen and heard Obama in the past year put his foot in his mouth more than once , but that is OK he is only running for president.
Its not about the lack of thought because she is a mom, its the lack of thought as parent. Mother, father, anyone responsible for lives they brought into this world and the normal inherent response most of us have in wanting to do what's best for them or at least, for pete's sake have them occur to us before we make major decisions.
- 2 votes
Don't think it was said that 'just because she's a mother' she can't do the job. The statement was that she wouldn't even say 'let me talk it over with my family' before accepting. Has nothing to do with not being able to do the job because of her children. sheesh.
Obama ... more than once? How about McCain OFTEN puts his foot in his mouth. OFTEN.
- 1 vote
Linda, you obviously haven't been paying attention for the 18 or so months. Obama has answered plenty of questions on foreign and economic policy. Don't forget he had to set through 20 plus debates on these very issues. The reason you must not have known that they ask him these questions is because as Obama said, it isn't 'media catnip.' The media would much rather spend time showing clips about lipstick than any policies that Obama has been talking about.
Fact is, Palin just got a taste of what the rest of these candidates have been dealing with and she failed miserably. Biden, was picked and went on the campaign trail immediately, and Palin, who claims she is ready to lead, isn't ready to answer questions about leading? What a joke.
As a female I am insulted, if Palin was a man McCain wouldn't have picked her. He just needed a mascot or lipstick to distract the population. There are dozens of highly qualified women out there that he could have picked, but picking someone who isn't just insinuates the fact that McCain lowers the bar when it comes to women.
- 6 votes
ohiogal,
You're exactly right! It doesn't matter if your a man or a woman. When you become the president or VP I expect your sole priority will be fulfulling your duties of that office. The family will take a back seat to the point of neglect if nessisary. The position is to important. If you can't accept that then say no to the offer.
The rest of your statment was right on too. I have been asking why McCain didn't look first for people that were highly qualified, then select the one that would do him the most political good.
I used to have a partner like her. Completely confident no matter how ill informed. It does work sometimes......
I ended up selling out and starting again because I thought he was to risky. He is out of business, and My business is growing.
Sometimes it pays to "blink" and get more information. Especially when you don't know what your talking about...
Like Barrack Obama says "It's not about me, it's about the policies" Although he ...did.... come up with them :)
- 2 votes
AnotherAverageJoe,
I agree. We've already had an impulsive President who for the past 8 years doesn't "blink" before making decisions. We've already seen where that gets us.
Speaking of impulsive.....................As far as Palin goes, I do feel sorry for her. She's a rookie, McCain has been around long enough to know better than to drag her into this race as a running mate, knowing she doesn't have experience to back him up should his cancer recur. This shows poor judgement on his part. She apparently was so excited to be chosen, she didn't think about the fact that she was chosen purely as a publicity gimmick. She is in so far over her head, as evidenced by her two interviews. Does she really think if he was elected he would give her any responsibility at all? If he was elected, she has already done her part and the part ends there. If you think we haven't seen Cheney, wait until you see what happens if he manages to get elected. She is finished either way. If Obama wins (and we all better hope he does), she will have to go back to Alaska as a governor who went from being very popular to one who has lost all credibility with all the investigations and public humiliation as her life was picked apart. Not to mention what this has done to her poor family.
Shame on you, McCain, for looking out only for yourself, having no regard for Sarah Palin or what would happen if she ended up being in charge if he is elected and something happens to him. "Country First"? I think not.
- 1 vote
How can a married woman of 5 children not hesitate when asked for VP?
Because unlike most other women out there (especially you Dems who can't manage your lives), she has been able to manage her life and family quite well, she has a very supportive husband (unlike you Dem single moms out there, living off of government handouts), she has an extensively supportive extended family (once again, unlike you Dems out there), and she is also talented and efficient (unlike you Dems out there who don't understand multitasking).
What a biased question to ask.
No one is more biased than a person who groups all of one party as having identical views and living identical lives. It's never never and it's never always. Get a clue.

SHE LIED. She's a page that fits right into the Republican playbook. She lied about her flip flop on the environment and instead of saying she didn't KNOW what the Bush doctrine was, she tried to BS her way through it. That's a LIE. Remind you of anyone? I give her a C+ for cramming, and an A in Cheyneyism. Didn't she graduate 440 out of 500 in her class? Or did she not graduate? Based on that performance I think the later. The Alaskan Hillbillies go to Washington....God help us.

I am proud to see her on the ticket. I am scared because she doesn't believe in science, she doesn't believe in global warming, supporting a man who doesn't believe in equal pay for equal work, has no plan for better education or health system... that's why we are all scared. Not we are scared there is a woman on the ticket who will take the votes away, is the fact that there is a woman on the ticket who doesn't do any woman good. That's why many of people are scared.
- 6 votes
Because it is frightening that someone is being put into power only because she is a female. Palin is not suited to be in such a high office. She is being used and apparently she's to power hungry to notice.
I am a woman and I am not proud that she is on the ticket. I am not old enough to have ever voted for someone based on race or gender. Females should be insulted that their gender is being exploited. And what's your single reason for voting for Palin? Because she's a woman?
McCain wants to be President so bad that he has embraced the same people that are running the Bush administration. Our country has been run into the ground and people are willing to vote the same policies.
You are correct. We are scared. I'm not sure this country can hang on another four years.

Go Terry!...I agree with you the Dems are scary cats running like crazy in circles because their Hussein Osama is not in the front pages any longer...hahahahahaha...run chickens run ...it took a real strong woman to wake up the media and pay attention to the real issues and the real threats to this country that the next president will face as soon as he step in office...and Osama/ Bi..n ticket will put us in danger...sorry but that is the true..without media bias....

because she is not anywhere close to being capable of being a heart beat away from the president!!! no disrespect terry putting all party affiliations aside - do you honestly really think she is capable of doing the job. please think before you pull that lever, it was a political ploy by the campaign. unfortunately john McCain had to pick her for the base, he really wanted Lieberman - that would have been a 'maverick' pick!

Agressive is that really you Karl? I think its a mighty high honor Chuck that Mr. Rove has taken the time to blog with the little people. Its so funny how the agressors always assume that if you question things, if you demand qualifications you are afraid. Its very simple, make no mistake about it, mission accomplished, the Republican party has sufficiently terrified me with stolen elections, putting in power a complete moron, and now a VP who was on national television saying we would go to war with Russia over alignment with Georgia, we would without a blink and no second guessing support Israel in a war with Iran and we would bomb Pakistan without any negotiations. Lovely. Just wonderful. I think we should keep that woman far, far, far away from any opportunity that even looks like a red button. You know that Office Max button, hide them all You know that elevator stop button, we should probably change them to yellow or something quick before she gets in office.

Obviously Terrie, you slept through the Palin interview. Please go to ABC.com and watch the interview over again and think about what everyone is saying in this blog and everywhere else. You must be a republican, because the only thing republicans seen in the interview was her lips moving and not hearing what she was saying.
I want to know, why McCain and Palin don't say the word "Republicans" damn is that dissing their party or what, just like they dissed George and Dick at the convention by not inviting them.
lexie-521675
I know why they don't say a word too! cause Rove hasn't written it down for them, you know what to think.
tabhi
lol...
palin is not qualified to be a vp, don't think her judgment, knowledge, character and do as I say not as I do behavior will cut it...forget about it...
Amen, Terry. She is a fantastic pick.
Makes you wonder why their messiah looked back 36 years for his running mate and McCain looked to the future?
Kinda makes you wanna say "old school thinking" when you look at BHO's thought process.
And, I think Biden sort of agrees with me. He supports Clinton.

Makes me wanna say:
"Sane thinking" for the Biden decision
and
"What the F___were you thinking" for the Palin decision.....
There was good old Charlie Gibson, as biased as the rest of them, trying to play at God and intimidate Sarah P. Sorry, Charlie. You're way out of your league when you try to mess with her.
Are you kidding? I would bet that Charlie had a hard time not laughing and how incredibly incompetent she was. I actually feel sorry for her in some ways, she is allowing her ego to get in the way of the truth of her lack of ability. The Republians are using her for a pawn and throwing her to the wolves as a political ploy. They don't care what happens to her and certainly don't care that when McCain loses this election, that in large part it will be due to his irresponsible deicion in his VP pick, she'll be sent back to Alaska a laughing stock. In McCains first real big decision on how he will govern this country, he took a risk, a big one and the risk he took was at the expense of all of us. Not a very Country First decision. Here is a clear indication of how horrific the current administration is, there is no way in this world the reds would be going star crazy for some unknown governor in Alaska if it weren't for their desire to seperate themselves from their horrific choice in supporting Bush for the last 8 years. If they has a respectable affiliate in office they too would be saying Sarah who?
- 5 votes
No, Charlie Gibson was interviewing her -- that is his job. She, on the under hand, had no business being interviewed, because she is no more prepared to be v.p. than 99% of the people in this country.

I shake my head every time I read a post where someone assumes the media has a liberal bias. Who do you think OWNS the networks? Who do you think has the ultimate say on whether or not a news anchor is hired or fired? Even if an anchor is a liberal, odds are pretty strong that anchor's boss is a conservative. It all comes out in the wash.
If I were Charles Gibson, I would have had a hard time continuing. If it were me, I would have said, Hey I keep asking questions, and you are giving me answwers, just not to the questions I am asking. I was born at night., and know they get long here I just wasn't born not last night...
I can;t believe she was actually answering the same questions he asked!!!
Foriegn Policy I guess now means budget and spending cuts.. What the ??????

terry-521364,
Dont' you think there is some justifable fear on the part of Americans that after the last 8 years of the way this country was governed we could end up in the same mess or worse? Let me explain it in simple terms, I did not vote for George Bush, either time, and yet as an American, becuase of other's choices, fraud, dishonesty etc., I, my children, my neighbors, my country has suffered through this administration. You all could do it to us again, and this time with a woman who would set us back even further. This is not a gimmick, this is not tabloid covers, this is our country. I could even tolerate an election that resulted in this ticket if I thought the real reason Palin was picked was she would be competent to govern this country. It is not terrifying simply because of the loss of an election, its terrifying that this person could potentially be OUR leader, not just yours.
- 3 votes
You are making my point beautifully. Somewhere along the line republicans became successful at making the world "liberal" a dirty word. If liberal means I care about more than myself, guilty as charged. If liberal means, I might not agree with everyone but they deserve respect, and thats "politially correct". Guilty as charged, and if liberal means that I am not so ignorant to believe that the US is some island and we don't have to interact with the rest of the world in order to ENSURE the safety of our country. If 9/11 did nothing else it should have revealed to everyone, that we cannot stand alone against these kinds of attacks. I strongly believe that Barack Obama has the best opportunity to faciliate repair of our nation and our allies around the world.
This is not a dictatorship, Barack has always indicated he would bring in serveral people to his cabinet with varying opinions, degrees of knowledge and suggestions for actions, but he has a fundamental plan that he evidenced better than most "experienced" leaders understood even about Iraq. What does Sarah Palin bring, as the potential leader of this country to that effort?

Superlogi: Obama and Biden will try to do what is best for the country. It will not be easy for them because of the mess that Bush and Cheney has left, but they will honestly try.
The GOP has become a party that pillages the country. There is no two ways about it.
You call Obama "Leftist" like you think it's a dirty word. There is nothing wrong with politicians that consider it their duty to serve the citizens of their country. That is actually the job that they are hired for.
Obama and Biden have the ability to use their own thoughts and words. McCain and Palin use the talking points that they are given.
Tell us Superlogi: How can you vote against your own economic well being and that of your country over and over? What country are you actually working for???

U.S. News & World Report's Michael Barone Said Obama's Fiscal Policy Is Akin To Herbert Hoover's -- Raising Taxes And Backing Protectionist Trade Policies During An Economic Slowdown. "On fiscal policy, both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton want higher taxes, at least on high earners. They want to let at least some of the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010, as scheduled. On trade, they oppose new free-trade agreements and want to renegotiate NAFTA with Canada and Mexico. As it happens, another president embraced such policies in a time of economic slowdown and financial market turbulence: Herbert Hoover raised taxes on high earners sharply and, ignoring a letter signed by 1,000 economists, signed the Smoot-Hawley tariff in 1930. The results were not pretty. Until now, his example has not commended itself to Democrats. One wonders whether voters will agree that tax increases will stimulate the economy." (M ichael Barone, Op-Ed, "Uncle Sam Pays? Sure, Whatever," U.S. News & World Report, 4/21/08)
Are you telling me that you are in fear now, you will be in real fear if OBama or Osama gets elected..because if people start talking about experience...well...I have nothing else to say ...the new president has to step and really know everything that is going on around us and make the decisions right therein and no training time in the job is aloud for Obama...............and get this the dems presidential ticket really sounds like the name of the real Killer/ terrorist who we are looking for since 911...Ob(s)ama Bi(de)n Ladden....get it...no wonder the middleast people want them to win...they join the same names...hahahhahahha

This will be my second - and LAST visit to this 'objective forum' - your questions are skewed with bias, and most of the commentary is posted by bitter hate-filled liberal whackos... no more time to dedicate to the ranting and raving... just listen to yourselves and enjoy the hate-a-thon.
When you say the things you say about Palin... take a GOOD LONG LOOK at your candidate Obama - a paper suit filled with charisma and what? NO EXPERIENCE OF EVER DOING A DAMN THING - for anybody but himself... sorry folks, he doesn't want to be president of the USA... as soon as he is elected, his goal is to become leader of THE WORLD, by giving our money and resources away (listen to his themes and review his 'share-the-world legislation' designed to give our money away to 'impoverished people' of the rest of the world)... he has a lot to learn... just hope the American public doesn't allow him to do it on OUR DIME. Cheesh! farewell, bitter individuals - I Love USA.

Obama has an education that he achieved through hard work and dedication. We know that McCain finished at the bottom 1% of his class. Why doesn't Palin release her college transcripts. We know that she went to 5 colleges in 6 years and claims to have a BA in Journalism. I'd like to see her GPA and what classes she took.
Neither McCain nor Palin have the education or discipline to run this country. Nor are they interested in making decisions that will be for the good of the country.
We need to amend the requirements for President and VP to include education...Maybe even an IQ test. The Bush administration has shown us that intelligence is a very important quality to have.

THAT I didn't know. Will double check it to make sure, but .. bottom 1%? wow. I thought I was slow.

Doesn't the Naval Academy have pretty high stardards to even get in there? If they are exceptionally high, being at the bottom wouldn't be so bad, would it?
"Doesn't the Naval Academy have pretty high standards to even get in there?"
Not if your dad is an admiral. They also usually have high standards for aviators. Having a sitting admiral in the Navy, while your in the navy helps allot.
Let me cut to the quick: There is NO chance that the average person with the prior achievements he had would get into the academy, and even less chance they would let them fly an airplane. (yes I know I said less than zero)
Superlogi - I doubt very seriously that your grades or IQ are anywhere near those you've named. Do your homework!

OK. I get it. John McCain's whole strategy is to keep everyone fighting over his unqualified pick for VP so he can skirt the issues and lie his way into the white house. This is the worst joke ever played on this country. They tell her, "Go hard Sarah. Make tough statements about Russia", Sarah. Somehow, we have forgotten the real tensions of a cold war. Somehow, I don't think a lot of people understand that if something happens to John McCain (He has a heart attack on a treadmill) she will be controlling the whole country. She has not prepared herself and that's the bottom line.
- 3 votes
The bottom line is that Obama has a degree specializing in foreign policy, and in law. He has a 30 year senator at his back to help steer the house and senate. And he ALSO has charisma, and a nack for bringing people together.
If they can get past the Rovian smear/distraction machine, they will make one heck of a team in the white house. That's good, cause we are going to need it to dig us out of the hole that the village idiot dug for us.
PS: Who wants to "have a beer with him" now?
It's always better to shoot someone or better yet, drop a $10,000 bomb on them than give someone in need a dime. It's great to be an American who has not been brainwashed by countless lies. I have a BA in accounting, please give me the nuclear codes now.
Your Accounting degree in more education that both McCain and Palin have together.
Hey, I live next to Mexico. Does that make me an expert on foreign policy???
- 1 vote
superlogi,
Newsflash, we are at war right now. Since any of your barrage of misstated facts about previous Presidents were in office, we have been attacked by terrorists. The Bush Doctrine was put out by the Bush Administration, not created by liberals. It is an actual doctrine. 30 of last VP's did meet with Foreign Leaders.
The difference with Barack Obama with regard to National Security is that he has a plan, which includes tough diplomacy, as well military action where necessary. In addition, Barack Obama was right about what would happen in Iraq, he was right about what we should do with Pakistan and he is correct in choosing a Vice President who can assist in governance of this country, particulalry with Foreign Policy, considering we are at war and Osama Bin Laden is still out there. Dont' you think John McCain should pick a person who brings something to the table on these serious issues even if he were to be able to serve his entire term? Doesn't he have any responsiblity to chose someone who did more than build a bridge/not build a bridge. Doesn't she have to have some qualifying opinion or knowledge anything of her own besides beign a neighbor to Russia?
So if your argument that Sarah Palin is a fine choice because Barack Obama is no better than she is, why on earth would you vote for John McCain who just reduced your ticket to something you didn't like in the first place? Inexperience, etc.? That isnt' even logical.

This really isn't a bash. How can you bash someone for what they are unles they are in some way evil. I don't think she is. She just calls into question John McCain's judgment in choosing her. This is valid criticism of a candidate who asipres to the second highest office in the land, which has varied greatly in the amount of responsibility it has carried, depending on who is president, but it is the position that definitely has one clearly defined duty: to step into the President's shoes if need be. We need to look at Ms. Palin objectively in that light. I know she brings a lot of energy to the McCain campaign, and a great deal of moral authority to those who share her views, but if it comes to a show-down with a Putin or a North Korean leader, etc. (since we really don't know what's going on there right now or who is in charge), I doubt they will stop to explain America's foreign policy to her befor negotiating (hopefully not at war) with her. I hpoe it never comes to that, but things do happen. Seven years and two days ago we were all as ahppy as pigs in a wallow, with no lipstick. That is no reference to Sarah. She a a very pretty capable woman in her own milieu, and not a pig with lipstick. That would be McCain's (and Bush's) foreign policy, in case you didn't see more than the sound bite of Obama's speech. She actually seems pretty likable, though I would not care to discuss certain subjects with her, just as I don't with some members of my own family, though we still love each other. Let's just get the show on the road and enough of ads that a re clearly not what was promised in this campaign.

I did not attack Sarah Palin, I asked what qualifies her? That is a legitimate question. You are aksing me as a fellow American to feel secure with her as a potential leader because she lives next to Russia. I am simply saying that is not enough for me. I am not attacking her, I am defending me. I've been through your moronic choice for President for 8 years. You all want to divorce yourselves from your personal responsiblity for how we ended up here in the first place, now you are expecting that we might be a a little skeptical about someone who hasn't evidenced to me that she brings anything to the table. Whether I am a democrat or a republican as potential leader she has just as much obligation to evidence that to me as she does to you. She is not doing it.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden have that same responsiblity, and apparenty they've failed in gaining your support and understanding. That doens't make you wrong, it makes them unable to convince you. Same with McCain and Palin for me.
This article is about Palin, that's why we are discussing Palin on this blog by the way.

Yet you liberals dont care.. he is a democrat and we should put him into office.. Now Hillary is out campainging for him and Joe Biden is on the Ticket with him.. Neither one of these People have the back bone of Standing up to their own beliefs.. OR. perhaps they were just lying about him and now they are trying to take those lies back...You Liberals have Zero Backbone... Oh.. and btw.. Wasnt Bill Clinton Just a Govenor when he ran for president.. Wasnt Jimmy Carter just a Governor when he ran for President.. .. I guess Being a Governor is Good enough for you Democrats but when its a Republican .. ITs not enough.. Just like most people that take ANY job .. there is a learning Curve.. I have higher expectations. I don't think it's asking to much that the candidate for this high office already know what they are doing. If they don't have much experience, not much of a track record, or not very knowledgeable about current issues, you will be taking a huge chance on them. I am not willing to take that chance.
And BTW, I don't think Obama is qualified either so now what?
Cynthia said, "She just calls into question John McCain's judgment in choosing her."
Yea right. BHO looks backwards 36 years and calls himself an agent for change.
McCain looks to the future and America loves it.

YES. a self described "Hockey Mom" becomes VP.... Sounds like a Disney movie.
Unfortunately in "real" life, work has to be done after 90 minutes is up, and things don't always end "happy"
Anybody remember the last 8 years?
I used to think it was more of the same.. Now I think it could be worse!!!!!
1. I am shocked that Palin was not able to encounter the press as soon as she was nominated. Never.....never before.....has a vp candidate been hidden and schooled. All past vp candidates that I know have been ready on day one and WERE!!!
2. Frequent public prayer by a person allows the frequent-public-prayer-person to practice presenting vapid verbage with no substance. Think about it.
3. Sarah is good at filling up airtime with words.....no damn substance, just like Charlie said.
4. She needs to go back to moose country....no, I take that back. I would not do that to a moose. His rack would end up on her wall.

What is really scary is not that the GOP advisors had to educate her and prepare her for her first interview. We Know what they think. It's that the reporter had to explain certain things to her. I could have done a better job of prepping her, and that's not saying a lot, though I try to keep up on what's going on in this world. Do we really want to rattle sabers against Russia over Georgia, especially when it seem that Georgia may have thrown the first stone (maybe with McCain's advisor/comes from the lobbying firm's paid by Georgia advice), not to mention Ukraine or other Eastern European countries? Let's face it, McCain himself joked that the VP's job was to check every morning to see that the President was OK. That joke ain't so funny to me. Presidents dp become incapacitated and/or die. If elected, I'll be praying a lot for John McCain's good health.

Pretty hard to believe that Palin is "ready on day one" when it took them two weeks to prepare her for an interview.

Let's see what she is capable of:
1. She handed Charlie, I wanna be Dan Rather, Jr., his arse:
2. She has catapulted McCain into first place;
3. She has put the House and the Senate back in play;and
4. She has put all of you libs in pure melt down mode.
Not bad for three week's work.
Now tell me again about her being inept.
I agree with superlogi. Also, Obama cannot in any way pay for all the things he's saying he will do as President. There's not enough rich people in all of America to tax for his socialist programs and you're an idiot if you think you're going to be in the 95% of taxpayers who won't get a tax increase. If you want a socialist republic, go to Russia. No one gives George Bush credit for the fact that our economy was already slowing down when he took office, this is after 8 years of Clinton, who rode the wave generated by Reaganomics, also, he was in office 8 months when we were attacked on 9/11, has anyone noticed that we've not had any more attacks on American soil since that time? And does anyone take into consideration that Bill Clinton had the opportunity to get Osama Bin Laden and would not make the decision? Also, where was he when the people in Irag were ready to overthrow Saddam Hussein and he turned his back on them and many were killed by Saddam when he found out their plans (maybe in the bathroom with Monica?) and how about all those wealthy "crooked friends" he decided to pardon as his last Presidential decision??? Doesn't anyone remember the shame he brought on America??
1. Obama can't pay for the things he say's he will do? Our country is trillions of dollars in debt because of the Bush policies.
2. When Clinton took office he inhereted a massive debt from the "Reagan Error". The GOP has run up the national debt every time they've been in office. The last GOP President that didn't leave the country financially worse off than he received it was Nixon.
3. Has anyone noticed that we haven't been attacked since 9/11?? Have YOU ever noticed that we never actually did anything to the people that were responsible for the attacks? Have YOU ever noticed that the Osama Bin Laden's family and the Bush family have been amigos for generations??
Did YOU know who recruited and trained both Bin Laden and Hussian??? It was OUR CIA when Bush 41 was in charge. But I guess that's Clinton's fault too.
The Bush/Cheney administration has already gone down in history as the most corrupt and failed administration in the history of our country. Bush couldn't even attend his own convention. Cheney wasn't even in the country.
Did you vote for the Bush/Cheney ticket twice??? And now you are supporting McCain/Palin??
I ask you Linda: How can you vote against your own economic well being and the well being of your country over and over??? How can you fall for the same smear tactics over and over???

Socialist programs? All the countries of the free world, has a government that pays for healthcare, just like they pay for military and education. Because it is the right of every citizen to have it. How can you be pro life when many of your fellow citizens are living and dying with out healthcare. We already have a socialist primary education system, but I think conservatives forget that. We have a socialist transportation system but i think the right forgets that too. There isn't anything wrong with having a socialist healthcare system.
if you people are truly worried about having to pay for it, then get back the 253 million of the money that wasn't returned for the bridge to nowhere, that wasn't built. Now, thats how you pay for healthcare.
If we didn't waste billions on a war that was not necessary we could only IMAGINE the kind of country we could live in....could you imagine if we put those billions into education, energy, infrastructure,
health care...isn't that what Obama is saying????
wake up America!!!
- 1 vote
You are wrong. Obama can afford to pay for these plans because he will end this war in Iraq. I know that many of you conservatives are a little slow, but imagine how many programs $350 million dollars a day can pay for in our country!
I don't even know why I bother posting this. It's like talking to a blank wall. You conservatives will vote for McCain/Palin just like you did with Bush no matter what. It doesn't matter if 90% of the things that they say and that come out of this campaign aren't even remotely true. I wouldn't support these two just on the basis of their low gutter ads, especially the child sex ed one. I can't imagine a true Christian even supporting the playing of that ad. It's very sad and I agree McCain/Palin have definitely sunk to an all new low.
After Bush, we deserve better here in America and I would rather vote for Obama/Biden who at least exhibit some intelligence. People this is not a popularity contest. This woman does not know what she is doing and needs to go back to Alaska because mainstream Americans aren't fooled by her.
- 1 vote
What world do you live in Linda? Bush took over a surplus. Obama would have the money because we would not be wasting lives and money on a dumb war Bush and McCain started with someone who had nothing to do with 9-11. There is money to pay for it especially when the expensive bridge to nowhere went nowhere except the reps put it back in the hands of Palin which has been spent on dumber things. Think of your kids in the future if you care at all for their future. Do you know how much this country has been rediculed by the whole world with what we have had in office. Get the red blinders off and face reality for your children and your neighbor. Taxes will be cut, do the math, it can be done. Sure the CEO's may have to relinquish a few million of their billions of bonuses they made off the backs of the middle class who most pay more taxes than the CEO. REmember this. there would not be any America if it weren't for the workers of America the middle class. They are what runs the mills, factories, and anything else you can think of. How selfish you are.
ALL of the major countries in the world have Universal Health Care and Education programs for a very simple reason. It is GOOD business!!! Anybody notice that we are getting our butts handed to us in Science, Innovation, Economy, etc.etc.?
Just to *pop* some myths. Take a look at health care. Wikipedia Universal Healthcare and take a look around. Check out Canada. Also go look at www.who.com (World Health Organization) We have the HIGHEST healthcare costs IN THE WORLD!!! and we are 74th in quality (just above Slovenia) We DON"T live longer, We DON'T have better quality, and we DO pay the most for healthcare.
Before anybody throws the red herring... I live 4 miles from Canada. I deal with them daily. They brag to me daily about their health care system. It is a source of pride for them. BTW, they like us, but think we are stupid to have the system we do, and they think we are CRAZY to have the leader we have..
Hopefully, I will soon be able to show them we are smarter on both fronts soon...
If you have come to believe as I do... GIVE to the cause. People like us is the only place the donations comes from It is needed to overcome the smear!!!!!!!! It's the home stretch... lets not run out of steam....

Rose Black said "You are wrong. Obama can afford to pay for these plans because he will end this war in Iraq."
Rose, tell me the current difference between when BHO and McCain are going to bring the troops home? As of BHO's last public statement, there is none. They are both going to follow the generals.
So Rose, tell me who is wrong now?

No.
McCain says today:
There are terrorists there that do everything in their power to harm us and our mission is to keep them in check. I will work with the generals on the ground to make sure we do just that. My friends Barack Obama is wrong on the war"
Obama says yesterday:
The Iraq war is a sad example of a failed foreign policy. They continue to cling to the myth that the perpetrators of the 9/11 attack are harbored in Iraq, and continue to execute a war of occupation, despite the call from the Iraqi government for us to leave. I will end this war. We will exit as carefully, as we foolishly got in. I will work with the command on the ground to get our troops out as quickly as is prudent. I think I can do that in 18 months"
Why doesn't Gibson ask the same questions to Obama? How much experience does he have?
Palin ran a state. What did Obama run?
But of course Obama has 300 advisers to help him.
Who is going to pay these advisers and what favors do they get it return?
Also what dirt did the 30 democratic lawyers find about Palin in Alaska?
I'm sure if they find any we will be the first to know.
She thinks that being a good leader means that you can't blink to make important decisions. That's her personality characteristic that scares me the most. She has an immature mind that misrepresents what it takes to be a leader. She must think she'll sound like a weak woman if she blinks and takes a pause to think about important decisions. If we put her in power, she'll damage the image and qualities of women that have been fighting for equal rights and to be in positions of power. She's simple not the right one to represent them. So many talented women out there with degrees from Yale and Harvard and much more qualifications that should have been occupied Palin's position in history. Such a shame.

You mean like BHO having to be asked 13 times whether the surge was a success before he could muster the nerve to admit that "it succeeded beyond anyones' dreams."
I prefer a leader that knows, and is not afraid of, what he or she thinks.

He said, and continues to say:
"of course the "surge" lowered violence in the region. But that's not the question, and it wasn't the reason for the surge. The purpose was to buy time so that the Iraqi government would do their part, would build a coalition, so that they can take their place and responsibility of governing their people. In that, the surge didn't succeed. The awakening which was completely independent of the surge, has helped somewhat, but there is much work to be done by the government, and I think, and thought that until time lines are in place, they will not have the motivation to complete a responsible government. I believed that then, and still do."
This is what he HAS said. It is what he IS saying
So NOW are we clear?
